A house is a structure.
A home is composed.

Otthon Atelier composes residential and commercial interiors that move slowly, weather honestly, and feel inevitable to the people who live inside them.

01 — Manifesto

We design rooms the way a tailor cuts cloth — to the body of the life that will live inside.

EST · 2021

Founded in 2021 in Nairobi, Otthon Atelier is a small studio of architects, interior designers, and makers. We work in plaster, travertine, hand-thrown clay, woven sisal, smoked oak and brass.

Every Otthon project begins with patience — long conversations, long walks through the site, longer afternoons in our material library. The result, always, is a room you do not want to leave.

01.5 — Disciplines

Six disciplines, one atelier.

OA

From first sketch to final candle, we keep every layer of a project inside one studio — so the room you commission is the room we deliver.

03 — Process

Four quiet movements, from brief to inhabited.

Each project moves at the pace of the people who will live inside it. Patience is the most expensive material in our library.

Listen

01

Listen

We sit with you. Walk your site. Open your wardrobe. Learn how mornings feel.

Compose

02

Compose

Plans, plaster swatches, hand-sketched joinery. A direction, not a deck.

Make

03

Make

We work with Nairobi's finest makers — masons, weavers, potters, joiners.

Settle

04

Settle

We style, light, breathe in the room with you. Then we leave it to live.

03.75 — Enquiries

Frequently asked.

A few of the questions we are asked most often. For anything beyond this, write to us — we answer within two working days.

Write to the studio

Residential commissions move at a deliberate pace — usually 8 to 14 months from first conversation to move-in. Hospitality and commercial projects scale from 6 to 18 months depending on scope.

04 — Begin

Book a private consultation at the studio.

Ninety minutes with our principal designers — over Kenyan coffee — to walk through your site, your reference images, and what a room with us could feel like. By appointment only, Tuesdays through Saturdays.

05 — In their words

Trusted by clients who stay.
